in early 1981 when drummer Lars Ulrich placed an advertisement in a Los Angeles newspaper—The Recycler—which read “Drummer looking for other metal musicians to jam with, Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head and Iron Maiden.” Guitarist James Hetfield and Hugh Tanner of Leather Charm answered the advertisement. Although he had not formed a band, Ulrich asked Metal Blade Records founder Brian Slagel if he could record a song for the label’s upcoming compilation Metal Massacre. Slagel accepted, and Ulrich recruited Hetfield to sing and play rhythm guitar.after that clif burton joined as the bassist and kirk hammit as the lead guitaristafter that the band released their first album kill’em all it entered bill board as NO.1 and since then they havent been nothing but NO.1 launching a successive skull crushing 3 metal albums starting with kill’em all and ending up with master of puppets the band was undefeatable The album was the band’s first to be certified gold on November 4, 1986, and was certified six times platinum in 2003. Some critics, including Steve Huey of All Music Guide, consider the album to be the “greatest heavy metal album of all time”, and earned Metallica the title of the “pioneers of thrash metal”.following the release of the album Metallica supported OZZY Osbourne for a U.S tour.
In 1986 after the notable success of their releases . The band started to tour in Euorpe when the worst happened, in september 27,1986 near Dörarp, Sweden, the bus driver which was transporting the band lost control and skidded causing the bus to flip and rolling for several times
Hetfield,Kirk,Lars were not seriosly injured BUT burton was pinned under the bus, dead, leaving the future of the band in doubt , metallica started searching for a new bassist when jason newsted showed up they decided that Newsted was to replace Burton .and again the band was on fire releasing Metallica (also known as “The Black Album”) was remixed three times, cost $1 million, and ended three marriages.Although the release was stalled until 1991, Metallica peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 with shipments exceeding 650,000 units in its first week. The album was responsible for bringing Metallica to the attention of the mainstream and has been certified 15 times platinum in the U.S., which makes it the 25th highest-selling album in the country. Now metallica stands for the golden age of metal along with Iron Maiden, Megadeth ,GNR………ETC. the band inspired many metal , rock and even rapand pop stars they were the led zepplin of the past generation and our generation………….simply they were legends
